Your gift contributes to the vitality and diversity of cultural life in Massachusetts by enabling the VLA to continue its advocacy efforts, educational programming for artists, and legal referral program.
For example, this past Fall the VLA conducted its “Artist Survival Series.” This series included workshops on estate planning, non-profit incorporation and financial planning for artists. Over the past year, the VLA conducted, with the assistance of Massachusetts Attorneys, a number of workshops that trained over 50 lawyers on the legal issues confronted by today’s working artists. Many of these attorneys have already begun to take cases from the VLA.
Your support also allows the VLA to be innovative in supporting the artists of Massachusetts. In 2000, the VLA spearheaded the creation of the Arts Services Coalition (ASC). The ASC was formed to create and support a network of professionals and organizations dedicated to providing a full range of professional services to artist and arts organizations. One of the main goals of the ASC is to create a resource center for the artists of Massachusetts. If you would like to be involved in this or any other program, please contact the VLA office.
